There are events in life that profoundly effect who you are, what you believe. One such event in my life was climbing those 4 flights of stairs, breathing heavy of course, to Dynamic in July 2009 & signing up. My body hurt at first but I was having so much fun. It is Oct & I still love going, not attending my class (or a make up) is not an option. I feel committed to the program & people. And for those who know me, yes I can be a little silly (& no I am not drinking) but truly I am changed by my experiences at the gym for so many reasons. I love the program, the instruction, the people. There are also some things that stand out for me:
- Kevin and Michele giving the honest feedback on form, recognizing when you are pushing through. They feel a true sense of pride in what you are doing...you can feel that.
- Niko encouraging me through 40 secs on knee ups. I didn't think I could do it. Niko kept pushing me through & honestly I walked out that day head held higher.
- Nicole spending time with me on form
- Chris making the class fun, playing some of my favorite music
- All the instructors & classmates encouraging, challenging you to do more
- Friendships made based in a healthy, positive way of life.
I can say I am better physically & mentally for being a part of this program. I have never felt so strong, so proud. Sometimes we forget to say thank you or let people know how important they are, this is my thanks. I thank everyone at Dynamic for all they do and all they are!

I began coming to Dynamic in November 2008. The thing that struck me most at first was that no matter what shape you were in physically, you could succeed. I specifically remember looking at a workout that included pull-ups near the beginning of coming to the gym. I thought, "Great, I am going to make a fool of myself! I can't do a pull up." I was so surprised when I watched Kevin demonstrate the exercises and he included a modification for those who couldn't do a full pull up. Then I realized there were modifications for everything and every exercise is modified for our needs. Since working out at Dynamic I have noticed a big change in myself physically. I used to refer to my biceps as "bones with bumps" at this point I have a defined bicep and tricep....oh yeah and I can do 4 pull ups now, with no modifications.

Just a quick note to tell you how GREAT it feels to be working out again. this is such a new experience for me -- actually wanting to work out and missing it when i can't. i feel so fantastic right now -- a little sore, but mentally alert and so positive emotionally. it's such a huge difference in my psyche. anyway... thanks for making a difference in my life!

I love the challenges you put in front of us every day and the variety of the workouts is great. You make us challenge ourselves, too. I know I'm not always the most confident when it comes to raising the level of performance, but you both help to push me to push myself. I am seeing great results and I think everyone else is, too. Thank you for including me in this program!

Truthfully, I came in the first night with a mix of wondering "How the hell did I end up here?" and "How quickly can I bail on this program without Tom being too mad at me?"... And then the first class came and YIKES! I called my brother from the parking lot telling him there was no way I'd go to the second class- I was so way out of shape I thought I'd never catch up and if I did I'd surely be dead by the end of 60 days. But, I came back again...and again...and again. And the weirdest thing was I went from dragging myself to the gym(which is what I always used to do) to actually being excited to come to class (this has never happened to me before--- exercise and excitement- how could that be?!).
Now, I can't believe how quickly the 2 months went by! I also can't believe the changes that have happened in two months! This was absolutely the only workout class that I have ever completed. Not only did I complete it, but I've moved from feeling each night that I "survived" class to now feeling that I "conquered" the class and can't wait for the next one! If nothing else, that would have been worth the price of admission alone! I really think that is the key to what makes the whole class work- the self confidence that it builds is incredible. You guys have that great balance between always making us feel that we're really achieving something and pushing us/correcting us when we're not quite there... I've never had that anywhere else!
A few other points that I think really help to make to make the class great:
-The group that we had was really fun, supportive, and varied in ability. It's great to be laughing with each other while we're sweating and cursing your name ;)
-Nobody felt singled out or "left behind"
-Seeing how much everybody improved was a great self-confidence booster!
-It's great how many different ways you guys have to do the exercises so they work for all different levels.
I love that I ended up in your gym!

Well I can honestly say this is the hardest thing I have ever done, even scary at times but I love it! You guys are great and very encouraging and so are all the people in the challenge. I love that everyday we do different things and even though they are hard and challenging, it's fun at the same time. You both have the right personalities for this type of workout and to be able to push us without it really seeming like it. Thanks for everything.

Curiously enough, I really didn't have specific goals when I joined Dynamic Strength and Conditioning. I've been working out off an on for years with some limited success. The problem was that I'd grown tired of the monotony of the "arm day" or "back day" logic that is the backbone of the traditional gym ethos. As a result of my boredom, my trips to the gym became less and less frequent in the months before I joined Dynamic. So it was with great anticipation that I read the newly placed signs for Dynamic Strength & Conditioning out in front of my building. A quick trip to the website told me this was exactly what I'd been looking for. I immediately marched my then 13 lb heavier butt over to check this new place out. As I had read about so called "alternative" gyms (and wished there was one in the area), I pretty much knew what to expect. What I didn't expect was the utter energy and enthusiasm that Michele and Kevin brought to the place. Upon my first meeting with them, I was impressed by how excited and dedicated they were to the concept of Functional Interval Training. You know how excited kids get when they tell you about all the cool presents they got for Christmas? That was Kevin and Michele. They had that "I can't wait to tell you about my new bicycle" quality to their enthusiasm. I found it to be both refreshing and inspiring.
Not one to turn down a Challenge, I signed up for the 60 Day Fitness Challenge on the first day. So, now 7 weeks into the challenge, I can tell you that joining Dynamic is one of the smarter decisions I've made in recent years. I find the workouts to be ever changing and ever challenging. There's no monotony, no boredom. Every day at Dynamic is a different day. The workouts are challenging to be sure. Never before have I worked out in such a manner that combines constant cardio work with constant strength and flexibility training. Every muscle is worked every time. I've lifted weights for years and not hit many of the muscles I hit at Dynamic on day one. The really cool thing is that you don't really realize that you're doing all that. All you know is that you're working HARD and having fun. There is no pressure (except what you but on yourself) and lots of encouragement from Kevin and Michele and other members. Results are measured in the constant improvement in one's ability to complete a given set of exercises and in the time it takes to complete the exercises. Outside of the gym, the result are obvious in other ways. I've found myself with lots of new energy and a much welcome mood stabilizing effect. To be sure, I've lost weight and gotten much stronger. But I think for me, the #1 benefit is knowing that I'm building a body that is capable of taking on any challenge. There's a certain confidence that comes from knowing that.
So, will I be continuing after the 60-day challenge? Hell yes. I've already signed on for the next Challenge. While I'll likely continue (on a limited basis) with traditional weight training, the Functional Interval Training I've learned at Dynamic will forever be the backbone of my training.

I feel stronger and more motivated to exercise than I have in years. I push myself harder in the FIT class than I ever would at the gym with a treadmill and weights. This type of workout is so much more fun than anything I have ever tried, and I'm forever thankful for the muscle toning and fat burning that I'm experiencing as a result of this class. My body looks better after having two kids than it ever did before, and for the first time in my life I actually look forward to exercising!

After turning 39 years old in early 2007, I decided to try something new since the big 40 was looming ahead of me. A sprint triathlon was something I had never done and seemed to be a great challenge for me. I completed 3 that summer and got the "bug". They were a lot of fun. However, I wasn't satisfied with just finishing anymore. I wanted to be competitive. My 2008 goals included finishing in the top 10 in the sprint triathlons I entered. This would be a big challenge for a number of reasons. One being that I suffered a hip injury in late 2007 and wasn't able to run all winter and early spring. Another was that my training was stale. I found myself doing the same workouts day in and day out. Boredom and burnout were setting in. After learning about Dynamic Strength and Conditioning, I decided to give it a try. Kevin not only provided me with different, challenging, and fun (yes, fun) workouts every week, he also was able to help me heal my hip so I was able to start running again. It was so great to get personalized and customized workouts that I could fit into my hectic work and family life. Best of all was that I feel great and have finished in the top ten in every sprint triathlon I competed in this year. I think our bodies stop responding to our same old workout routines we do year in year out. Dynamic Strength and Conditioning has given my body a wake up call using muscles I haven't used since I was little. I would highly recommend Kevin's training to anyone, whether it is a competitve athlete or just someone who wants to get into better shape.

A friend of mine told me about Kevin Buckley because she has been working with him in preparation for this year's sprint triathlons. I have gone to traditional gyms and taken step aerobic classes in the past. I also walk my dog several miles a day. A few years ago, I purchased a Precor Elliptical machine in hopes that would get me in shape. I even put it in my bedroom so I could watch TV or listen to music while exercising. My husband calls it a very expensive clothes rack. I found it very redundant and boring.
It seemed like once I past the 40 year mark, my metabolism shut down. I needed to try something new. I began working out with Kevin and four other women on April 28th. The first day was raining and in the 40's. Kevin was impressed that anyone showed up since the workouts are outside. I don't remember the entire workout, but, it involved burpees, running, squats, etc. The next day, I could barely move. Going up and down stairs was a challenge. I thought I was in o.k. shape, but, I realized how out of shape I really was. Since then, Kevin introduced us to kettle bells, jump ropes, rubber bands, power wheels, and the monkey bars. Our workouts are always different, challenging and we certainly laugh a lot. The class has grown to somewhere around 17 people (both men and women) so the word is spreading. At least 3 of the women in the class I attend have done triathlons this year.
Since I began, I have lost 22 lbs and feel great! I have much more energy and many people have commented on my weight loss. I will be continuing to work out with Kevin when he opens up his gym in Nashua, NH in September. His FIT (functional interval training) classes really work your whole body. I will probably sign up for some specialized classes also. I really enjoy working with the kettle bells and the jump rope. I am not a competitive person or looking to do any triathlons in the future, but, want to get in the best shape possible. These classes are designed for beginners through elite athletes. Kevin will show you variations with each circuit so you can challenge yourself and he always encourages you to get to the next level. I highly recommend giving Dynamic Strength and Conditioning a try.

I've been running for years but for so many of the last ten, I haven't pushed myself and my fitness level slowly but surely declined. This class was exactly what I needed! I love the philosophy behind every routine, that running and jumping and playing and 'monkeying' around, all those "exercises" that we did as kids, were not only keeping us fit and healthy but pushing the boundaries of our muscles and minds while we played. Every Dynamic Strength and Conditioning routine is different and challenging and innovative and FUN! And there's nothing better than waking up the next morning to tighter muscles, increased core strength and more energy and stamina than I've had in years. This program will continue to be not only an integral part of my running routine and my overall health and wellness, but one of the most enjoyable parts of my week! Thank you for pushing me and showing me how to play again!

Kevin and Michele,
I can't thank you enough for the encouragement, the guidance and the kick-ass workouts! You have something very unique and special here and I am thrilled to be a participant. I am getting much more than just exercise out of the experience. I am learning to push myself, to be proud and excited for my achievements no matter how small, mental toughness, an improved mood and motivation in other parts of my life and I am making personal connections with others to the point that we encourage and challenge each other regularly. Thank you doesn't say it enough...
